Frigga Norse goddess of Friday

Did you know that our days of the week are based on Norse gods, that represent our solar system planets?

People today say TGIF without batting an eye where this saying originated.

Our ‘Fridays’ are named after the Norse goddess ‘Frigga’.

*The word for “Friday” in Germanic languages (including English) is named after Frija. A forebearer to Frigga.

Here are a some Folklore Facts about this lovely goddess.

* Frigga is the goddess of hearth and home. She’s a mother goddess. Frigg is one of the Æsir goddesses in Germanic Folklore. She is linked with marriage, prophecy, clairvoyance and dwells in Fensalir, the wetland halls of Asgard.

*Frigga is called the goddess of family & fertility

*Frigga is married to ‘Odin’ or ‘Woden’

*Together they produce their heir ‘Baldr’

*Frigga is a weaver and spinner of spirituality, magic. She is a Volva.
